How to Save Money on Parcel Delivery to Russia: 7 Ways
Shipping a box from the UK to Russia can cost £20, or it can cost £60 for the same contents. The difference lies in the shipping channel and how well it's packed. Here are seven ways to save money without slowing things down.
1. Combine Purchases into One Parcel
The most expensive part of international shipping is the first kilogram. After that, the price per kilogram drops by 2–3 times. If you're expecting three orders from British stores, don't ship them separately. Have them delivered to our UK warehouse, we'll hold them for up to a week for free, combine them into one box, and ship them.
Real-world example: a customer was buying a winter wardrobe from three stores. Separate shipping would have cost £64. In one box — £28.
2. Choose Economy if Time Isn't Critical
The difference between Economy and Express on the same route is usually three to five days in transit time and £15–30 in price. If the parcel isn't a time-sensitive gift, Economy pays off.
When speed matters, it matters. Documents before an interview, medicine, perishables — Express. Personal belongings, clothing, books — Economy.
3. Compare Couriers in the Calculator
Different couriers offer different prices for the same route, especially with bulky packaging. The calculator on the homepage shows several options at once, so you can choose. Sometimes the difference is 30%.
4. Reduce Volumetric Weight
The courier calculates "volumetric weight" using the formula length × width × height ÷ 5000. If your box is light but large, you'll pay by volume, not actual weight.
What helps: put shoes in bags, remove them from shoe boxes. Remove bulky factory packaging from non-fragile items. Use a box that fits the contents, no bigger.
5. Skip "Door Delivery" if There's a Pickup Point Nearby
Courier delivery to an apartment in Moscow or St. Petersburg will add 800–1500 roubles. More in regional cities. If it's convenient for the recipient to pick it up from a service point, select it when placing your order.
6. Watch for Promotions on the Homepage
Once a quarter, we lower rates on specific routes, usually before seasonal peaks (August before school, November before New Year). Subscribe to the Telegram channel to be the first to know.
7. Don't Pay for What You Don't Need
Basic insurance is included in the price. Take out extended insurance only if there's something valuable and fragile inside: electronics, optics, jewelry. For clothing and books, extended insurance is a waste of money.
The same goes for signature confirmation: it's useless for most parcels. Only use it if you're receiving at a company office or it's important to record the date.
