How Delivery Time is Calculated

A typical UK → Russia parcel goes through six or seven stages. Each takes time, but these times don't simply add up. Some overlap, and some wait for the next available flight.

Days 1-2: Receiving at our Ipswich warehouse. If you deliver the parcel yourself, processing usually takes a day. If the parcel comes from a store via Royal Mail, add another 1–2 days.

Days 2-3: Processing and customs declaration. Weighing, checking for prohibited items, and completing paperwork.

Days 3-4: Handover to the international carrier.

Days 5-10: International flight and delivery to the destination country. This is the longest stage, taking three to seven days depending on the service and season.

Days 10-15: Russian customs. Usually 1–5 working days, but in December or after major crackdowns, the queue can extend to 7–10 days.

Days 15-21: Russian delivery to the pick-up point or your door. Depends on the city. Moscow and St. Petersburg: 2–3 days, other regions: 4–7.

Actual Delivery Times by Service

**Economy**: From £8 per 1 kg. Delivery time: 14–21 working days. Our 2025 statistics show that 87% of UK → Moscow parcels arrived within 14–18 days, 8% took 19–25 days, and 5% took longer.

**Standard**: From £14 per 1 kg. Delivery time: 10–15 working days. 91% arrive on time.

**Express**: From £24 per 1 kg. Delivery time: 5–9 working days. 94% arrive on time. This uses DHL Express for the international leg, which is more expensive but provides stricter SLAs.

What Affects Delivery Time

The main factor is the season. From November 15 to December 31, international hubs are overloaded with pre-Christmas traffic. Allow an extra 5–7 days. If the parcel needs to arrive by a specific date, order Express, not Economy.

The day of the week also matters. A parcel arriving on Wednesday usually goes for international shipping on Thursday or Friday. One arriving on Saturday sits until Monday. This isn't our laziness, but the schedule of international flights and customs processing.

Currently (Spring 2026), it's a quiet season, and parcels are arriving 1-2 days faster than the expected average. Summer is usually the same until August.

When Parcels Arrive Faster Than Expected

More often than you think. If you ordered Economy and the parcel arrives in 12 days instead of the promised 14-21, that's normal. We deliberately give a range with a buffer to avoid disappointment in the worst cases.

For UK → Moscow Economy in April-May, the average actual delivery time is 13–15 days. That is, the median is within the promised range of 14–21.

What Delays a Parcel

Most often, it's customs. This happens if the declared value is suspiciously low for the item category, if the contents are sanctioned, or if the declaration is incomplete. See our CN23 declaration guide.

Less often, it's weather and strikes. In the UK, Royal Mail has a history of union strikes; the last major ones were in 2022. Things have been quiet since then, but keep it in mind as a risk factor.
